I started in Mesa in 2013 running for City Council. I wanted to see Mesa exit the recession and continue the amazing work the Council had done to that point. I was elected in 2014 and sworn into office in January 2015. I was re-elected to the Council in 2019. I termed out in 2023.

I was asked by legislators, and others, to run for the Commission in 2021 because I had made votes not biased in politics, and because I had 24 years of utility and regulatory experience having worked at Southwest Gas, and with Mesa’s public electric, gas, water/waste water utilities.

My first term was about getting the Commission back in its lane and eliminating the costly mandates and subsidies previous commissions imposed on ratepayers. My focus, along with my colleagues, then became about affordability and reliability, two very important issues regardless if you’re a business owner, an employee, or a consumer, we expect the lights to come on when we flip the switch, and we desire affordable rates when we do use that electricity.

I believe the Chandler Chamber endorsement means much more than an endorsement from the Chamber. It means the Chandler businesses, that are Chamber members, also support me and my campaign.

My door is always open to anyone that wants to meet, so as long as the topic isn’t under ex-parte, I’m always willing to help or discuss any issue that falls under our constitutional and statutory authority.
