Who Can Vote in Arizona
To vote in Arizona you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age by Election Day, and a resident of Arizona and your current county. You are not eligible if you are a convicted felon whose civil rights have not been restored, or if a state or federal court has found you incapacitated with respect to voting.

How to Register
Arizona residents may register online through AZMVDNow (with an AZ Driver's License or ID), by mail, or in-person at the county recorder's office. You can also register through ADOT, vote.gov, or the Maricopa County Recorder's Office. Registrations must be received at least 29 days before an election.
03 · Early Voting
Early & Mail Voting
Any eligible Arizona voter can vote early — by mail or in-person at a county election office — before Election Day. To automatically receive a mail ballot for every election, sign up for the Active Early Voter List (AEVL) when registering or through AZMVDNow. Early ballot requests must be submitted by the deadlines listed above.

No ID? You may cast a provisional ballot. If you lack photo ID but have one of the Column B documents with your name and address, you may vote on a provisional basis. Contact your county recorder's office for details.
How do I update my voter registration?
Update your registration if you have changed your name, address, or party affiliation — especially if you've moved to a new county or state. This should be done at least 29 days before the next election. Update online at
ServiceArizona.com, by mail to your County Recorder's Office, or in person.
Can I vote in the Primary if I'm not registered with a party?
Yes. Arizona's open primary law allows independent (unaffiliated) voters to vote in one party's primary. If you're on the Active Early Voter List, you'll receive a postcard asking which party ballot you'd like. If voting in-person, you'll choose at the polling place. Note: this does not apply to Presidential Preference Elections, which require party registration.
What changed about the 2026 Primary date?
Governor Hobbs signed a bipartisan bill in February 2026 permanently moving Arizona's primary to the second-to-last Tuesday in July. In 2026, that is July 21 — previously the Primary was held on the first Tuesday in August. The change gives election officials more time to prepare for the General Election and ensure military and overseas voters receive ballots in time.
How do I sign up for the Active Early Voter List (AEVL)?
When completing or updating your voter registration form, check the box marked "YES, I want to automatically receive an early ballot for each election for which I am eligible." You can also log in to
AZMVDNow.gov and request it online. AEVL members automatically receive a mail ballot for every election.
What if I need an emergency ballot?
Voters who experience an emergency that would prevent them from voting at the polls may request an emergency ballot. Contact your local County Recorder's or Election Office directly for details on the emergency ballot process and deadlines.
How do I find my polling place or sample ballot?
Maricopa County voters can find their polling location at
locations.maricopa.vote or call 602-506-1511. Sample ballots are mailed to registered voters before each election and can be found online at the Maricopa County Elections website.
